Sarah Prevatt, a native Floridian, is a fiction writer and poet whose work has appeared in national literary journals.  She received her MFA in creative writing from the University of Central Florida, where she was twice awarded the English Department’s annual Fiction Award.  In 2012, her novel Summer of the Swallowtails was selected as a semi-finalist in the Leapfrog Press Fiction Contest and her short story "Four Dustpans" was nominated for a Pushcart Prize.

A teacher as well as a writer, Prevatt has led creative writing workshops throughout the Orlando community.  In 2007, she taught creative writing to middle and high school students as an instructor at Miami-Dade College’s Kids/Teen College, and from 2008-2009 she was a Visiting Instructor at UCF.  She has also led workshops in a variety of community settings in association with UCF's Literary Arts Partnership and recently served as Director of Maitland Poets & Writers.
